The Treehouse - "Connecticut's Oldest and Original Fulltime Comedy Showcase" through it's Open Mic Night's, was instrumental in launching the comedy careers of Lisa Lampanelli, Jim Gaffigan, Andrew Kennedy, Dom Fig, Jane Condon, Marty Rackem, Chip Chinnery, Andres Fernandez, Kevin Flynn, Kevin Downey Jr., Nancy Ryan, Tom Hertz, Billy Winn, Perry Gardner, Vincent MacElhone and many, many more including Johnny Rizzo.

 

 


Connecticut's Premiere Comedy Showcase featuring touring professional comics, up and coming comics, and aspiring funny men and women.


 

 

Beginning MAY 22nd 2009 The Treehouse is proud to continue in the Treehouse tradition of bringing Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts area comics an opportunity to try new material and work on honing the craft. The show will be a weekly comedy gym. A place to work it out! If your a touring comic and have a minimum of twenty minutes worth of quality time and looking for paid work we will audition one act per week in this Showcase for those spots as well. If you're a new comic we will put up two new acts weekly. You need to have minimum of 5 to 7 minutes of time. If your currently a working comic but want to improve your act and are looking for a place to work-out, here's your work-out room. We will provide feedback, an environment to improve and a great place to work-it out!

Treehouse Open Mike Nite - Alumni Press

 

 

Lisa Lampanelli started her illustrious stand-up comedy career at the Treehouse Open Mic Nights in the 90's. Originally from Trumbull, CT. Lisa is as hot as any comic in the country. Selling-out 3000+ seat venues a couple hundred times a year. The "Lovable Queen of Mean" jumped onto the national comedy spotlight by killing on Chevy Chase's NY Friars Club Roast on Comedy Central. That appearance led to an encore on the Roast of Jeff Foxworthy and then to headlining those roasts with Pamela Anderson, Flava Flav and more. She's a Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Howard Stern Show Regular. She's sold-out Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. Numerous other TV appearances on BET, Comedy Central, VH-1 and MTV along with her recent HBO One Hour Special. A Treehouse Original.

 


 

Andrew Kennedy comes back to The Treehouse in Danbury in preparation for his  1/2 Hour Comedy Central Comedy Special. Andrew started at the Treehouse Open Mike Nite in 1993ish. His talents and due diligence to the craft have afforded him this opportunity.

John Ivarone has earned a weekend spots at the Treehouse through his Treehouse Comedy Showcase Audition. This Yorktown Heights native wrestled himself up some press in a recent Treehouse appearance in Piatto Grill and numerous paid Treehouse Spots since.

Good job John.


 

 

Monroe native Chris Dubail does a Treehouse Comedy Showcase spot which leads to paid work in Danbury, Westport Ansonia & Stamford. Chris also did a guest spot on WPLR'S Chaz and AJ in the morning Show's Toys for Tots Christmas function.

 


 

Tony Liberati goes from A Treehouse Comedy Showcase spot to paid weekend work. We got Tony some press at his weekend paid spot in Danbury. He has since gone on to perform in Trumbull at Marisa's, Miraggio's, and Westport.


Front page article in the Entertainment Section about the Treehouse Comedy Showcase and Open Mike Nite at Daniel Street in Milford starring Treehouse original Billy Winn.

The headline reads "Looking for loads of laughs? Then head over to Daniel Street." Reporter Stephanie Janucik also said, "I have to say that I was rolling for most of the performances."


 

Play Magazine front page story with cover boy Billy Winn July 27th 2005. WPLR host and star of Daniel Street's Treehouse Comedy Showcase and Open Mike Nite Billy Winn grabbed plenty on ink in this one. Matt Christmas not only got some press out of this piece he has also garnered (4) four years of paid work for us since. 

 "He's (Brad) a talent agency and he's his own promotions and advertising department as well.

Johnny Rizzo, the reigning King of Connecticut comedy appears on the front page of the Fairfield County Advocate before it was the Weekly in the late 80's. Johnny was the very first comic to audition for Treehouse owner Brad Axelrod back in the summer of 1983. Johnny auditioned with no one else in the room, not even a mouse, while the original club was being built.

 

Johnny parlayed his talents into a 25 year stand-up comedy career in which he has been featured on Last Comic Standing, Howard Stern's "Kill or be Killed", A&E's "Comedy on the Road", America's Funniest People, MTV, VH-1 and numerous TV commercials and the Movie "On the Road to Wellville".    

 

Johnny is the epitome of a Treehouse original.     

 

 

 

 

Andrew Kennedy started his stand-up comedy career doing impressions to Treehouse owner Brad Axelrod over the phone. Originally from the Danbury CT. area Andrew has gone on to doing a couple appearances on Comedy Central and a handful of movie appearances.

 

This Columbian born native recently worked the 10,000 seat arena at the Mohegan Sun with Angel Salazar, Joe Vega, and another Treehouse Original Andres Fernandez.  

        

 

                                      

 

     

Chip Chinnery went from Bridgeport bank executive to stand-up comic. He parlayed his stand-up into a great character actor. He's been seen on numerous TV shows including: Seinfeld, Friends, The Man Show, The Jenny McCarthy Show and numerous guest appearances on the Tonight Show just to mention a few.

 

Chip's face might be most recognizable from his numerous commercial appearances including: Bud Lite, Hertz, Geico, and Staples.

 

Chip has also done  stand-up on A&E's Evening at the Improv and Carolines Comedy Hour.      

                                                                   

 

 

Greenwich CT. native Jane Condon started her preppy comedy career in the mid 90's. She's gone on to television appearances on the View, Lifetime Channel's Girls Night Out and the Today Show.

She was chosen "New York Fan Favorite" on TV'S Last Comic Standing

 

 

                                                                                               

This piece appeared in a four page spread in Connecticut Magazine. Billy Winn is featured with Emmy award winning writer/producer Tom Hertz a Westport native.

Billy toured, while, headlining comedy clubs for years after honing his craft at the Treehouse Open Mike Nights. Since he hates to fly Billy hooked onto a new profession, radio. Which he has done for and for the past 10 years. Billy got his chops working with KC101 morning radio's Dr. Chris and Hozay.

Tom Hertz won his Emmy Award while writing for the Denis Miller Show. Tom went on from there to produce Spin City, executive produce "Everybody Loves Raymond", and "King of Queens", as well as creating, writing, producing, and executive producing, "Living with the Callahans" and "Arrested Development". Hey Tom? Sure beats writing Treehouse radio commercials for $25 bucks a pop Aye?
